"I have come a long way in terms of changing my lifestyle to transform my body and 2017 is the year I really tackle anti-aging head on and by that I mean preventing and reversing some of the things that happen to us as we age.
Age related muscle loss is first and foremost on my list and I outlined my plan to build muscle a couple of posts ago. Lifting heavy also helps increase bone mineral density and I'm trying to help this along by eating a lot more leafy greens which are rich in calcium, vitamin k, potassium and other minerals needed for healthy bones.
I believe food is medicine and when you eat for health, everything else falls into place. I think the best way to treat our bodies as we get older is to eat a diet rich in anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant foods. It's hard to know where to start and so far I'm taking turmeric daily (in the form of turmeric latte's) and am adding blueberries and other berries to my green smoothies.
Two supplements which I want to ensure I take more regularly are omega 3's for joint care (I'll probably alternate between fish, krill and flaxseed oil) and a good probiotic for gut health.
I definitely find that when I eat clean and without dairy my skin is much clearer. I still take whey protein but this doesn't seem to affect me at all and I'm assuming that because I take a WPI it's due to being low in lactose. In terms of anti-aging skin care there are only four things I believe actually live up to their claims and make a noticeable difference and those are a good sunscreen, vitamin C serum, glycolic acid and Retin A and I plan to get back into a regular routine of using these. Although not fitness related I'm happy to do a skincare post if anyone is interested. 😃
